Album Pre-orders sent early from Tru Thoughts shop

If you purchase the album from the Etch Shop (Tru Thoughts’ online shop), then you will receive the album a couple of weeks before anyone else – in limited edition packaging. Pre-orders will be sent out on 6th September.

It’s also the cheapest place to buy the CD, as well as being the method through which more goes directly to the band than any other, as it cuts out the middleman…

Powaqqatsi – original score

UPDATE 14/09/10:
**Powaqqatsi Shows Cancelled**
With great regret, we announce that the live performance of Hidden Orchestra along to the film Powaqqatsi as part of Scottish charity TakeOneAction’s Film Festival, due to take place on 25th Sept at the Edinburgh Filmhouse, and 27th Sept at the GFT, have had to be cancelled, due to reasons beyond the control of the organisers, band and venues.
More detailed reasons on why this has happened will be released as soon as possible.

Joe has been commissioned to create an original Hidden Orchestra score for the classic Godfrey Reggio film Powaqqatsi (originally scored by Philip Glass), to be performed live in cinemas by Hidden Orchestra in September, as part of the Take One Action film festival.

The commission from Take One Action (“Scotland’s global action cinema project”) is in conjunction with TenTracks.co.uk, and has been part-funded by Creative Scotland (formerly the Scottish Arts Council).

The main performances will be on 25th September (Edinburgh Filmhouse) and 27th September (Glasgow Film Theatre), with a preview performance of the first half of the film on 29th August at The Roxy Room (Roxy Arthouse), as part of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

  • “Electronic Jazz has always been a rarity outside of smoky bars and crime drama soundtracks, so it’s a pleasant surprise to find Joe Acheson Quartet bustin’ their glitch-centric grooves in the T Break tent. Although a daytime slot somehow doesn’t entirely suit their dark ambient oeuvre, the mark they make is indelible; reminiscent of early DJ Shadow, mid-period Morricone and Norwegian collective Jaga Jazzist rolled into a bounty of satisfying percussive twists.” — Dave Kerr,
